Gov. Eliot Spitzer … Going Down?

Politics Comments (0)

As I type, New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer is holding a news conference to confess his involvement in a prostitution ring. The New York Times apparently had the scoop and I expect it will be a least a couple of days before this particular story falls off the front page.

As do most politico-sex scandals, this one has “hypocrite” written all over it. Spitzer, as state attorney general, prosecuted prostitution cases. I won’t speculate as to what his family thinks … nor do I presume to know.

The escort service involved was “The Emperors Club VIP,” and its website (of course it had one) is down. Here’s the story from Friday in the New York Sun: (link)

So which is more stupid — Spitzer or laws against prostitution? I can’t resist slowing down as I drive by, that’s for sure.
