I have won $153,000 so far …

… unfortunately, it is on the “Highroller Casino” game on my cell phone, and I can’t figure out a way to transfer it to my RL bank account.
I have never liked cell phones, actually, and I still think it is creepy just how accessible some cellphoniacs make themselves. I wouldn’t have a cell phone at all right now, probably, except for two things.
- Nancy has one. Sharing a cell phone plan was, for both of us, an act of courage and commitment. That we could imagine even *knowing* each other for two years was astonishing and revelatory last year when we did this, given our respective track records.
- Our cell phones connect via wifi hotspots, as well as towers. I swore I would never rely on a cell phone until someone made this happen affordably. T-Mobile is the only provider offering it so far.
I can’t endorse it 100 percent yet because …they really don’t have all the bugs out yet. Connecting to wifi networks and making calls works flawlessly most days and then, unaccountably, is impossible for minutes or hours — a Bad Thing, since I can’t get a signal from a cell tower at my house, and the whole point of having my Nokia 6086 was to to use its VOIP capability, which doesn’t cost by the minute. But I *like* it when it works, which is most of the time. I’ll like it even more when (not if) VOIP becomes ubiquitous, part of any cell phone plan worth having. We are, therefore, all of us, rooting for Google to win the auction for 700 mhz spectrum.
Now if you’ll excuse me … I have an unexpected trip to Brazil to contemplate (I get phone calls like that sometimes, believe it or not) and a drive home in the snow. And I’m still playing with $153K of house money. So much to do, so little time.
Oh. You can subscribe to this blog now, if you want. I’m adding more functionality, here and there, as I figure things out. Eventually, I’ll be an expert. Just like everyone else, huh?
